No Sugar Month — Wanna Join?

Two posts in one day … we’ve gone a little crazy here! Ok, not really, but I (Cori) have gone a little crazy in my sugar intake recently. I am in need of a sugar detox. How about you?

I wrote recently about how beneficial it has been for me to give up sugar for a time. Now, I’m putting some action behind my words. For the month of March, I plan to (mostly) avoid sugar. Would you like to join me?

I was doing pretty good with my eating habits until February rolled around. Then there was the Super Bowl and my birthday and Valentine’s Day and Girl Scout cookies and mostly just me being lazy about my eating habits. If I eat a little bit of sugar it quickly snowballs into a little more and a little more. The best way for me to get back on track is to be a bit ruthless and cut sugar out for a period of time.

Above I said I would *mostly* avoid sugar. Let me explain. I am focusing on sugary treats like cookies, candy, soda, etc. Junk food, basically. I will have some sugar at breakfast. That doesn’t mean a bunch of donuts and sugar loop cereal. I usually have oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast, and both often have some added sugar. I also allow some sort of low sugar drink, such as Crystal Light Pure or some tea sweetened with honey, to combat those times when a glass of water sounds so blah.

You can make up  your own rules and regulations. The key is knowing what will work for you. If you’ve never tried something like this before, start off knowing that it will be a learning experience. March 1st is on Friday, so you have a few days to evaluate your eating habits. Pay attention to how much sugar you consume in a day … when, where, why, how often … and use that info to make your ground rules. Set yourself up for success!

Then, grab an accountability partner! That will be … US! It’s much easier to suffer work hard on improving your health when you know others are doing it, too! I plan to have a weekly post about how things are going, and we can all check-in over on The Journey Facebook page to encourage and challenge each other.

So, who’s in? Comment below or on the Facebook page if you’re up for this challenge! You can do anything for 30 days (technically 31, but who’s counting?), right!? Let’s do this!

{And don’t miss Jessica’s latest workout that was posted this morning!}
