Pinny Pig week 2…detox bath, getting ready for swimsuit season & my home spa

shannon the journeyAnother week down and a few more pins to check off my list.  I have to admit you guys, I am really starting to get a sense of accomplishment with this!  I love to do craft projects with my kiddos and have gotten a lot (I mean a LOT) of ideas from Pinterest which I used to feel guilty about.  Why couldn’t I have come up with this on my own?!?!  But then, the hubs (awesome man that he is) pointed out that lots of people pin things, but how many actually do them!?!?  That made me feel pretty good.  With that being said, it has also changed the way I look at things before I pin them…will this be a good one to test for our awesome readers?  How will this pan out?  Hmmmmmm!!

Okay, so lets jump in.  The No Squats Belly, Butt, and Thighs Workout.  I very much enjoyed doing these exercises.  It gave me a chance to work an area that I feel is a “trouble spot” in a new way and heck, any exercise is better than none right?!?!  Do I feel that the 2 week timeline is enough to really notice a difference?  No.  But I will keep incorporating them into workouts as a nice “change of pace.”

The Yoga for Bedtime  has been a bit of a blessing.  I am loving it!  Even got the mini to do a little with me.  It’s just a nice way to wind down and re-center after a long day, especially on some of those strength training days when I needed a little extra stretching.  I would recommend this one highly!  Even if you aren’t doing it at bedtime, if you have a few minutes of down time during the day and need to kind of get yourself back on track, you could do these or easily modify them for work if needed.  This one again, reinforces my love of yoga!

Still working on fitting in my detox bath…got the ingredients I need just need the time to a) wash my tub to the point where I want to lie down in it (hee hee) and b) have 30 minutes to relax and just have me time.  I will keep you posted though…I feel like this will be just as rewarding as the yoga in re-centering myself and re-charging my spirit.

The At-home Spa Treatment: Moisturize Dry Hair…hard to say how this worked.  It’s messy.  It’s fun (well I thought so my bog kid…not so much).  Hair felt a little greasy the day of, soft but greasy…and once you regularly wash it again it seemed to be the same as before.  I think I will save my olive oil for cooking.

PinnyPig1So what is on tap for this week.  With a beach vacation in the works, I am really trying to hone in on exercises that work the area I like to refer to as “the under butt.”  You know what I’m talking about…that spot right under your booty that seems to be impossible to exercise so it sits there mocking you and looking all orange peely and self-satisfied.  I am openly declaring war on the under butt!!!  With that in mind…my first new pin to try this week is So Long Saddlebags!  I am hopeful that this will help me “feel the burn” in that dreaded under butt area!  Along the same lines, I have turned to my friends at Popsugar and found their 8 Exercises to Help You Say Sayonara to Saddlebags.  I am very hopeful with both of these pins as I have seen some very cute unskirted bathing suits this year I would like to try without hanging my head in shame.

As for spa stuff…still working on that detox bath and going to try this DIY black head removal mask.  Because the pin I have keeps taking me to a weird java update that I don’t need, I will just explain:

The claim is that this mask will:

  1. Whiten your complexion instantly (GLOWING)
  2. Remove Blackheads
  3. Deep Clean
  4. Tighten your skin/pores
  5. Control oiliness.

You could call this the cheapest mask ever because you need only the white of an egg and one tissue (NOT GIFT WRAP TISSUE)!  Another bonus, you know how In love my frugality!
Take the white of an egg in a small bowl and beat it slightly. Brush apply the egg white on your face and neck, avoiding the eye and mouth area. Take a thin tissue (Kleenex type, not gift wrap type) and cut out holes for your mouth, eyes and nose. Place it gently over your egg white brushed face, pat gently. Or you could tear the tissue into small pieces and place on your face one by one to cover fully.

Now apply another layer of egg white over tissue and leave it on to dry. When completely dry, gently peel-off the tissue or tissue pieces in an upward direction from the face. Check out all the blackheads on the tissue…yuck.

Wash off with tepid water and apply a mild moisturizer.

SO wish me luck…and make sure to check out our Pinterest page for The Journey!  Do you have a pin you would like me to try?  Send it to me at smallchangesbigpicture@gmail.com  I’ll add it to my list and consider reviewing it!  Have a great week!

Yours on The Journey!
