Day 28: The Final Countdown

Eating Paleo 31 DaysI’m a little late posting tonight. I was busy watching the World Series. It might take a miracle for my family’s team — the Cardinals — to pull off the series win.

But, anyway, on to Paleo eating! It’s getting down to the final stretch. I got several personal responses to my post from yesterday about foods that cause digestive issues. One friend said she has trouble with sweet potatoes, and well, I’ve been eating those like candy. Also, another person I know has a friend without a gallbladder who is unable to eat avocado. (A missing gallbladder can cause trouble digesting fats … which are higher on a Paleo plan.) So, the big take-away so far is that foods can mess with you and we should all probably do a better job of figuring out what they are. Unfortunately for me, the jury is still out. I’ll have to keep investigating.

Today went well. My eating habits feel pretty “normal” now. I’ll have to establish a new normal starting Nov. 1. Come back Thursday for my “what’s next?” post. Supper was a little wacky tonight because we needed to be away from the house from 5:15 until 6:45 for a Cub Scout meeting. I fed the kids before 5:00 but wasn’t really that hungry myself. I ate a banana at 5:00 and then had a late supper of a chicken breast I had cooked earlier in the day and some strawberries. That’s not ideal, but you do what you’ve got to do.

Today’s menu:

Breakfast: Bacon, eggs and pineapple.

Lunch: Leftover beef, broccoli and strawberries.

Supper: Banana, strawberries and chicken.
